The month of September is officially ‘Septembeard’ at Heritage Ford and Toyota Scion. If you see a bunch off scruffy guys in the showrooms, or service and parts departments, do not be alarmed; our staff has combined their beard-growing powers and started a team to contribute to Septembeard, an organization dedicated to eradicating prostate cancer, with the help of a little facial hair.
It’s simple: beginning on the last day of August (or the first day of September), our participating beard growers shave clean, and won’t shave again for the whole month of September (except to keep it tidy!). But growing an awesome beard is only half the battle – while the beard growers are busy…well, growing – our friends and family, our non-beard-growing co-workers and even you can sponsor our beards and donate some of your spare pocket change to the cause, and help end prostate cancer.
When you donate, you’ll have a choice of six world-renowned cancer clinics to donate money to, including, UCSF, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, The Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson and Northwestern University. All funds donated are given directly to the foundations, eliminating any additional fees, and putting your donations right into the hands of the cancer research world’s best and brightest, bringing them one step closer to curing prostate cancer.
Ready, Set, Grow!
Heritage Automotive is pulling back the curtain for an exclusive SNEAK PEEK of an upcoming more love film, HUMAN, NATURE.
Join us on Saturday, January 17th, 11:00 AM in the Bissonette Room, with guest presenters Governor Peter Shumlin and Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter.
HUMAN, NATURE is a deeper look at Vermont’s Outdoor Sporting Community. It could be one of the most significant tools for securing a healthy future for fish and game hunting in Vermont. Heritage’s past projects have taken fundraising & awareness to new, unprecedented heights for the Burlington Boys and Girls Club, Vermont Organ Donation, Rebuild Waterbury, The Three Day Stampede, and the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department.
Additional screenings will take place throughout the Classic as can be seen on the schedule.
Around the country, November 15th was Go Further with Ford Night – a night dedicated to partnering Ford dealerships with their local charities in order to fundraise up to $500. Heritage Ford partnered with the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf and for each person that attended, $10 was donated.
At the event, guests also had the chance to try their hand at judging an American Idol contestant in order to win a trip for two to LA and a guest judging spot on the show. All guests who preregistered or came to the event are entered to win a trip for 2 to LA to sit in the audience during American Idol. Guests who came to the event and signed in are also entered in to win a brand new 2013 Ford Fusion.
We had a total of 31 guests, so Ford Motor Company will be donating $310 to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf in the coming weeks! A big thank you to everyone who came out to the event and helped make it a success. We love being a part of the South Burlington community and really appreciate all the support from our community members.
This past Saturday we had the opportunity to help sponsor the Zombie Run, which partnered with Smile Train, at the Champlain Valley Fair Grounds. We chose the two trucks on our lot that best fit the description of “Zombie-Killing Trucks,” and set them up at the finish line for all to admire.
We asked the question, “If you could choose a truck for the zombie apocalypse, would you choose the workhorse Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat or the offroader Toyota Tundra Double Cab Rock Warrior?”
Well, which one would you choose?
It has been a gorgeous summer so far in Vermont and arguably the best part of the summer is baseball. Whether you support the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees, everyone has some hometown pride for the Vermont Lake Monsters. This season, Heritage Ford and the H-Team are proud to provide “Kids Eat Free Thursdays,” every Thursday. The first 500 kids under the age of 12 that enter the park each Thursday will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a soft drink, courtesy of the H-Team.
See how H-Team members Charlie, Toby, and Andrew and the Vermont Lake Monster’s own Champ prepared for “Kids Eat Free Thursdays” at the local supermarket in the clip below. (Big thanks goes out to Mt. Mansfield Media for creating this video)

First, we would like to send out a big “Thank-You” to everyone who came out this past Saturday to the Williston Central School and took part in Ford’s Drive One 4UR School Fundraiser. You helped us raise $2480! We had over 120 different families stop by for a test drive, while the event was staffed by 20+ volunteers from Williston F.A.P and 10+ employees from Heritage Ford.
We had quite a steady stream of drivers from 8am right up until 4pm when we began to break down the event, allowing us to fit in 124 test drives. Around 10am, Rusty Dewees stopped by and stood out by the road, rounding up more people to test drive a Ford. To see more photos, we have posted an album of from the event on our Facebook, here
This truly was a great community event and we couldn’t be happier with the results. With $2480 raised, the Williston F.A.P can purchase materials that the budget doesn’t allow. Again, thank you to all of our customers and community members who came out and test drove a car for this event, we couldn’t have done it without you!
Calling all car enthusiasts!
This Saturday, May 19th, Heritage Ford of South Burlington is co-hosting a Ford Drive One 4UR School fundraiser in conjunction with Williston Families as Partners. Heritage Ford will be providing vehicles to test drive from 9am to 4pm, and for each test drive Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the school – up to $6,000 – to support clubs, sports and other school activities. The Williston F.A.P. will also be hosting a car wash, so drop off your car and test drive a new 2012 Ford to help raise money for a good cause. And if that was not enough, each participating household will be entered into a drawing to win a new 2013 Ford Escape! Drivers must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid driver’s license.
This is the first time Drive One 4UR School has held a fundraiser in Vermont and we want to make it the most successful event yet. To date, no event across the country has raised the full $6,000 and we hope you will help us and the Williston F.A.P. become the first to do so. Come out on Saturday and get your car washed, take a test drive in a brand new car and help Heritage Ford raise money for a great cause. You can find more information about the event and RSVP via Facebook by clicking here.
On February 9, With the signing of the I Am Vermont Strong license plate bill, Governor Shumlin gave his official authorization to purchase a Vermont Strong license plate and affix it to the front of your vehicle.
To show our support for the recovery efforts, the H-Team has purchased 100 Vermont Strong plates. Five of these plates will be given away via social media, each of the remaining 95 will be included with your purchase of a new or used vehicle at Heritage Ford, Toyota and Scion.
If you’re not in the market for a new vehicle, but still want to contribute to the cause, you can help too. For a $25 donation to the fund, you can get your own I Am Vermont Strong license plate today by visiting the official Vermont Strong website, here.
The H-Team’s support of the recovery efforts goes beyond just license plates, and if you wish to support the cause and a license plate isn’t for you, there’s more you can do too. Visit RebuildWaterbury.org and learn about what’s being done to breathe life back into Waterbury and the surrounding communities affected by the hurricane, and make a donation to do your part to help. The H-Team will match your donation up to $10,000.
Friday evening, the H-Team and Rusty Dewees welcomed about 50 local community members to the Majestic 10 Theater for a special public preview of the SB Remembers Documentary. The documentary highlights the planning and construction of the new South Burlington Veterans Memorial to be erected at Dorset Park. The documentary was locally promoted on Sunday through a Super Bowl commercial, seen below.
The event was a resounding success, with Rusty Dewees and the H-Team’s own Toby Tyler chipping in to help raise $1,000 in a silent auction. The weekend also saw the official launch of the newly developed SBRemembers.org, where visitors can learn about the memorial and see artist’s renderings of the proposed final product. Since its launch on Sunday, the site has already generated $500 in donations to the memorial project.
The H-Team Antifreezers take to the lake for a good cause
The Veterans memorial wasn’t the only worthy cause to have received special attention from the H-Team this past weekend. A group of courageous H-Team members braved the frigid waters of Lake Champlain on Saturday morning as part of the annual Penguin Plunge, helping to raise money for the Special Olympics Vermont. The Antifreezers were among the first to race into (and out of) the lake, donating over $1,800 to the charity, which raised over $300,000 for the Special Olympics of Vermont.
Click here to see video of the Plunge participants, and look for the Antifreezers around 3:30.
