The 2017 Fusion Energi is a five-passenger plug-in hybrid sedan that is available in three trims SE, Titanium and Platinum. Customers that choose the 2017 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid will only be able to choose from two trims, a base model and a high-end trim. The 2017 Fuison Energi is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor that's fed by a lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output is 195 horsepower and the Fusion Energi is able to go up to 20 miles on electric power alone. The battery can be fully charged in seven hours with a 120-volt power source or in 2.5 hours using a 240-volt source, which is about 15 minutes faster than the competing 2017 Sonata Plug-in Hybrid.

Aside from the superior fuel economy, the 2017 Fusion Energi is also advanced in its standard feature department. The Sonata's base trim doesn't even compare to the number of luxury high-quality standard features on the base model of the Fusion Energi.
