The month of September is officially ‘Septembeard’ at Heritage Ford and Toyota Scion. If you see a bunch off scruffy guys in the showrooms, or service and parts departments, do not be alarmed; our staff has combined their beard-growing powers and started a team to contribute to Septembeard, an organization dedicated to eradicating prostate cancer, with the help of a little facial hair.
It’s simple: beginning on the last day of August (or the first day of September), our participating beard growers shave clean, and won’t shave again for the whole month of September (except to keep it tidy!). But growing an awesome beard is only half the battle – while the beard growers are busy…well, growing – our friends and family, our non-beard-growing co-workers and even you can sponsor our beards and donate some of your spare pocket change to the cause, and help end prostate cancer.
When you donate, you’ll have a choice of six world-renowned cancer clinics to donate money to, including, UCSF, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, The Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson and Northwestern University. All funds donated are given directly to the foundations, eliminating any additional fees, and putting your donations right into the hands of the cancer research world’s best and brightest, bringing them one step closer to curing prostate cancer.

The Heritage Automotive Group is proud to be sponsoring Saint Michael’s Playhouse 2015 season! The June 16th kick off presented audiences with the award winning show Monty Python’s Spamalot. On the schedule for the rest of the season is Wait Until Dark, Outside Mullingar, and Woodie Guthries American Song
Saint Michael’s Playhouse was started in 1946 with the intention of bringing professional theater talent to Vermont. Since it’s inception, headed by two professors at Saint Michael’s College the theater has been attracting seasoned professional actors from Broadway, Boston, and the greater Burlington area. Saint Michael’s Playhouse was booming until 1970 when its wooden headquarters burned to the ground. The playhouse had become a major institution in the area, and was not going to be lost. Five years later the playhouse celebrated its grand reopening in the state of the art McCarthy Arts Center. Now four decades, hundreds of shows, and over a million audience members later Saint Michael’s Playhouse is flourishing.

Here at Heritage we are very excited about the 2015 Ford F-150. It has gotten a major face lift, and been redesigned inside and out. Fords all new powerhouse of a truck is not only a utility vehicle, it also has a hint of hippie built into it. For 2015 F-150 is not only consuming less, but it’s also doing its part to recycle, especially to improve the 29% recycling rate for plastic bottles.
The production of the 2015 F-150 Ford is helping to recycle about 9 million plastic bottles. Initially it sounds a little ridiculous. Why would someone want more plastic in their truck? But it’s actually quite innovative. Ford has partnered the manufacturer Unifi, which takes recycled plastic, including used bottles, and turns turns them into thread. The material is called Repreve, and its also found in products made by The North Face, Quicksilver and other quality clothing brands.
Repreve thread is made from a new process that is ultra efficient, in fact the product is certified sustainable by the Unify U Trust Verification program. A process that monitors the transparency of production, and traceability of materials in a production line. It is this certification that aligns the Repreve product with Fords commitment to sustainable practices. Ford has been using Repreve thread in its cars since 2012, and is only expanding their inclusion of Repreve and other recycled materials in their vehicles.
Ford is a leader in sustainability in fact they were named the #1 Global Green Brand by Interbrand. They are currently the only automaker to use Repreve, and it can be found in five of their models. Fords commitment to sustainability has pushed them to research all sorts of sustainable products for their vehicles, which are approximately 90% recyclable at the end of their life; a number that the company is trying to grow. It makes sense that the worlds Greenest Global Brand has made drastic strides towards making America’s favorite truck of three decades more eco friendly.
Oh, and by the way there are anywhere from 63 – 110 plastic bottles in each 2015 Ford F-150.
